This match box features three rare, "broken" Tulips as depicted on Dutch tiles. Popular during Tulip Mania, the distinct and beautiful 'streaks' on these flowers were the result of the "Tulip Breaking Virus", which would cause color pigmenting in the petals to be inconsistent. Unfortunately, this virus was also a curse, weakening the genetic line with each successive generation until eventually the flower is extinct.
Within each box are approximately fifty long-stem (4") matches.
